Meet Dave
Four decades in Boulder. A career minding other people's money carefully.
Dave moved to Boulder in 1985 and never left. He earned his B.S. and M.B.A. at CU Boulder, and built a career in institutional finance — including eight years as a Senior Portfolio Manager at Colorado PERA, where he helped steward retirement savings for hundreds of thousands of Colorado teachers, state troopers, and public employees. He knows what it means to be trusted with public money, because he's done it.
When the city moved to annex CU South by emergency vote, Dave spoke up — not against flood protection, but for a process worthy of the decision. "This is about good governance," he told council. That's still why he's running: Boulder deserves a council that does the homework, levels with residents, and takes care of what we already have.
Priorities
What Dave will focus on
Specifics, not slogans. Each of these will grow into a full position with numbers behind it.
Fiscal stewardship
Boulder faces a maintenance backlog measured in the hundreds of millions while budgets tighten. Dave will bring professional financial discipline to the city's books: fund what we've built, be honest about tradeoffs, and measure results.
Good governance
Big decisions deserve real process — public homework, real engagement, and no emergency shortcuts. Dave will push for transparent budgeting and decisions residents can follow and trust.
Protecting open space
Open space is Boulder's founding bargain. Dave supports maintaining and protecting the system that generations of residents taxed themselves to build.
A city that works
Safe streets, working infrastructure, wildfire readiness, and a vital downtown. The basics, done well, are what make everything else in Boulder possible.
